Company info:

Karlshamn is a universal, ice-free port located in a well-industrialized region of southern Sweden with a convenient position to serve trade routes between Scandinavia and Eastern Europe and the Baltics, as most of the capitals and population centres in the Baltic region can be reached within 12 hours.

Karlshamn has the ability to berth all sizes of vessels that enter the Baltic Sea as HandySize and small Panamax for dry goods, plus tankers of up to about 100,000 DWT. The access channel is short and easily navigated. Karlshamn features 6 port areas with 3 km of quays and 750,000 sqm of land, including warehouse storage for dry goods at 43,000 sqm. The port also offers 500,000 cbm of space for liquid goods in tanks and in an underground storage facility. The port is only 2 km from the electrified coastal railway, and just 2 km from the E22 highway to Malmö and the R29 to Växjö. All traffic bypasses the city centre. The port handles mainly energy-, forestry- and bulk products along ro-ro and ro-pax traffic (incl. refrigerated goods). Working 24 hours a day all year round, together with other suppliers Port of Karlshamn offers a comprehensive range of logistical services. Handling equipment is prepared for serving sawn timber, pulp, timber, paper, wood chips, gravels, scrap, containers, as well as various other bulk and general cargo. The customs authorities have their regional head office in Karlshamn. There is also a local pilot station, areas for parking and a depot for trailers and containers.

As for the ro-ro/ro-pax traffic, the port offers liner connections to Lithuania and Germany. There is a passenger terminal with a customs gate, ticket office and parking facilities of more than 65,000 sqm. Last year, Karlshamn handled over 57,000 of ro-ro units.

Operating with high ecology standards, while constantly improving environmental and safety awareness, is one of the Port of Karlshamn's central objectives. The port has facilities for treatment of sludge, that is, spill oil and oil waste from engine rooms which is forbidden to dump at sea. Karlshamn Port takes care of sludge free of charge.

Within the port area there are over 100 ha of development land which is or will become available over the next few years.
