Capacity increase on DFDS' Ghent-Gothenburg route

The Danish shipping & logistics company has exchanged Begonia Seaways for Humbria Seaways of the so-called 'Jinling class.'

The new vessel is 237 m-long and 33 m-wide, offering 6,700 lane metres of cargo capacity (vs. Begonia's 4,731 lm).

"In the first five weeks of this year, transshipment volumes increased by almost a quarter. The Humbria Seaways will be able to transport 320 more trailers per week in both directions. This is like one of the current ships doing a seventh crossing," Alain De Brauwer, Route Operations Manager, DFDS, explained.

DFDS sails between Ghent and Gothenburg six times per week, apart from Humbria Seaways also with Freesia Seaways (4,731 lm) and Primula Seaways (4,650 lm).
