A reefer train carrying fresh fruits and vegetables was sent from Valencia to Copenhagen via Cologne to test a route that is expected to become a regular weekly connection.

The transit time amounted to five days. The shipment was arranged by Transfesa Logistics on behalf of Coop Trading, part of the retail cooperative.

On the backhaul, the train carried empty pallets of Euro Pool System that together with Transfesa Logistics is involved in the CoolRail project.

The rail route is said to emit 70% less CO₂ than a comparable road service.
