Destination Gotland's second LNG ferry - delivered

The Chinese GSI shipyard has handed over Thjelvar to Rederi AB Gotland, the parent company of the Swedish shipping line Destination Gotland.

Thjelvar will soon start her voyage from China to Europe, where she'll be put into another shipyard in order for the remaining equipment to be installed.

The ferry, which can take on-board up to 1,650 passengers and around 500 cars, is a sister ship of the 2018-built Visborg which serves the Visby-Nynäshamn route.

"With Thjelvar, our second ships that runs on LNG [liquefied natural gas], we have made the next step towards realising our vision of providing climate-neutral ferry traffic," Håkan Johansson, CEO, Rederi AB Gotland, said.
