DFDS orders another freighter

The Danish shipping company has contracted the Chinese Jinling Shipyard for the delivery of a brand-new ro-ro vessel.

The ship, which will offer 6,700 lane metres of cargo capacity, is scheduled for delivery in 2020.

"This freight newbuilding increases our order book to five large freight ferries, which will increase our efficiency and enable us to accommodate projected growth in our route network in northern Europe and the Mediterranean, support trade and help our customers grow their business," Niels Smedegaard, CEO, DFDS, commented on the order.

In addition to these ro-ros, the company will take in two new ro-paxes in 2021, to be deployed in the Baltic, as well as will charter from Stena Line one E-Flexer-class ro-pax for deployment in the DFDS' English Channel network in the same year.
