DFDS reinforces one route, but closes another

Due to unsatisfactory volumes, the Paldiski-Hanko route has been terminated - for this reason Patria Seaways, the ferry serving the link, has been moved onto the Paldiski-Kapellskär service.

As such, the number of weekly sailing between the Estonian and Swedish ports has increased from 14 to 22, apart from Patria Seaways (room for up to 243 passengers as well as 1,800 lane metres of cargo capacity) also performed by Sirena Seaways (623/2,056).

"The trend in freight and passenger volumes remains strong on the route, and for a long time, our customers have requested more capacity and higher frequency. I am really pleased that we can now offer this with two daily departures in each direction nearly every day," Anders Refsgaard, Vice President and Head of DFDS' Baltic operations, said.

The closure of the Paldiski-Hanko service didn't affect staff numbers, DFDS noted in a press release.
