FESCO's third Zhengzhou-Hamburg rail service

The Russian company has put in place the Silkway Amber, a container train that connects the Chinese Zhengzhou (Henan province) with Hamburg via the Kaliningrad Oblast.

The route goes through the border crossings of Erlian-Zamyn-Üüd-Naushki (China-Mongolia-Russia) and Mamonovo-Braniewo (Russia-Poland). The break of gauge takes place at the Dzerzhinskaya-Novaya station in the region of Kaliningrad.

The first set, consisting of 43 containers, left China on 24 October and arrived in Germany two weeks later.

As of 2020, Silkway Amber will become a regular, once per week round trip service.

The two other Zhengzhou-Hamburg services of FESCO see the trains going via the Grodekovo-Suifenhe (18 days of transit time) border crossing.
