Fjord Line’s brand new high-speed catamaran ferry – launched

Austal’s Philippine shipyard has floated out Fjord FSTR, the latest addition to the fleet of the Norwegian shipping line.

The new ship – 109 m-long and 30.5 m-wide, offering room for up to 1,200 passengers and 404 pax cars – will replace Fjord Cat this summer, doubling the capacity on the 2-hour-15-minute-long crossing between Hirtshals and Kristiansand.

“The ship is built with several innovative features improving both sailing abilities and guest comfort on-board with the help of a ride control system. The catamaran is also equipped with a new and optimized hull shape, minimizing fuel consumption and waves when sailing over Skagerrak between Norway and Denmark,” Rickard Ternblom, CEO, Fjord Line, highlighted.

According to the line, Fjord FSTR will emit 32% less CO2/passenger than Fjord Cat.
