The Yantai CIMC Raffles Offshore shipyard will construct two freighters of the Stream Roro 1700 concept for the Ålandic company, with an option for an additional pair.

The 125-by-24-metre ro-ros will offer 1,700 lane metres of cargo capacity spread across three decks.

The Stream roro design was developed together with the Hamburg-based Technolog Services. With cargo capacity larger by 70-100% than Godby's current Mimer and Midas, the newbuilds are expected to have the same fuel demand. The 1A Ice Class duo will be equipped with shore power connectors and batteries. "The battery capacity can later be increased and complemented by new emission free power generation. The new vessels are also prepared for a waste heat recovery system and alternative new fuels such as methanol," Godby Shipping added in a press brief.

CIMC Raffles will start working on the newbuildings in June and November 2027, with delivery scheduled for September 2028 and January 2029.
