2025-07-11
As of week 35 (25-31 August 2025), the Swedish seaport will receive calls by 15,000+ TEU carriers of Maersk and Hapag-Lloyd within their AE5 and NE4 connections, respectively.
The loops connect the Baltic ports of Aarhus and now also Gothenburg with Bremerhaven, Hamburg, Rotterdam, London, Tanjung Pelepas, Yantian, and Qingdao.
Gemini's container ships are expected to visit the Port of Gothenburg every Thursday.
"This is excellent news. I am confident the industry will value the expanded range of choices, including multiple direct port calls along with alternative services via shuttle and feeder networks. This development reinforces our role as a reliable gateway to global trade and a guarantor for the industry's access to the world," commented Richard Mellgren, Business Development Manager at the Port of Gothenburg.
He also underscored, "In combination with our unique Railport Scandinavia system, which links 26 inland terminals across the country in an environmentally efficient manner, this new direct ocean service provides a resilient and competitive corridor between Sweden's key production and consumption areas and Asia. Coupled with our robust liner network, modern infrastructure, and the high-performance terminal operations of APM Terminals, we are well positioned to support the continued growth of Swedish foreign trade and strengthen the global competitiveness of Swedish businesses."
