Grimaldi Group ferry-links Sardinia and Sicily

As of 15 January, the Naples-based shipping line offers a new weekly service between the seaports of Cagliari and Palermo.

The route is served by the ro-pax Venezia, up-to-date plying across the Cagliari-Salerno connection. The vessel offers 2,250 lane metres of cargo capacity, plus room for up to 1,000 passengers.

Departures from Palermo will take place on Saturdays at 7:30 pm, with the arrival in the Sardinian capital on Sundays at 9:00 am. Sailings from Cagliari are scheduled for every Friday at 7:30 pm, with an expected call to the Sicilian capital port the following day at 9:00 in the morning.

"With the launch of the Palermo-Cagliari ro-pax connection, we are starting a massive campaign to further boost our presence in Sardinia, an increasingly strategic market for our Group," Emanuele Grimaldi, Managing Director, Grimaldi Group, said.

He added, "Sardinia is at the center of an extensive network of maritime connections that the Grimaldi Group has built in recent years in the Western Mediterranean, both for the transport of freight and passengers, guaranteeing territorial continuity not only with Continental Italy but also with neighbouring nations."

The shipping line provides the cargo-passengers services Civitavecchia-Porto Torres-Barcelona, Livorno-Olbia and Civitavecchia-Olbia, as well as pure freight routes linking Porto Torres with Genoa, and Cagliari with Genoa, Livorno, Salerno, and Valencia/Sagunto.
