Hapag-Lloyd to take stake in JadeWeserPort Wilhelmshaven

The Hamburg-headquartered container shipping line intends to acquire 30% shares in Container Terminal Wilhelmshaven (CTW) and 50% of Rail Terminal Wilhelmshaven (RTW).

CTW spans over 1.3m m2, offering 1,725 m of 18 m-deep quay wall served by eight gantries. The yearly handling capacity sums up to 2.7m TEUs.

RTW has six tracks, each 700 m-long.

The parties have agreed not to disclose the purchase price. Subject to approval by the antitrust authorities, contract closing is expected within a few months. The terminal operator EUROGATE will continue to hold the remaining stake.
