Kiel's new kombi rail service to/from Verona

Kombiverkehr and Color Line have partnered to launch a direct train connection between the Port of Kiel's Norwegenkai ferry terminal and the Italian inland rail freight terminal Verona Quadrante Europa.

The set can take up to 30 trailers/containers per trip. The train departs from Verona every Thursday at 10 at night and arrives in Kiel on Saturday morning. In the opposite direction, the cargo units are transshipped in Kiel on Friday afternoons to arrive in Verona on Tuesday mornings.

"The intermodal rail/ship connection between Norway and Italy replaces truck transport on a distance of 2,000 km and thus reduces the carbon footprint by 50%," the Port of Kiel stated in a press release.

Kiel has already three rail connections with Verona, but these are served through the Schwedenkai terminal to which the ferries of Color Line don't call.
