Metrans’ new terminal

The rail arm of HHLA has opened – in partnership with LUTRA, operator of the GVZ Schönefelder Kreuz logistics centre – a new intermodal facility in Königs Wusterhausen, some 25 km southeast of Berlin

The terminal, named Metrans Berlin, started operating on 4 November by handling its first containers that directly came from the Port of Hamburg. The service connects the new facility with HHLA’s sea container terminals Altenwerder and Burchardkai, and EUROKOMBI Terminal jointly run by EUROGATE and Kombiverkehr.

GVZ Schönefelder Kreuz is a trimodal centre, however, so far containers arriving by rail and road can be handled at Metrans Berlin only.
