New broad-gauge Poland-China rail service

PKP LHS, in cooperation with the Port of Gdańsk, has established a regular link between its Euroterminal Sławków and Xi'an.

The first shipment, consisting of 45 containers, left China on 24 December 2019 and arrived in Sławków on 7 January 2020, having transited Kazakhstan, Russian, and Ukraine. From Sławków, which is the westernmost part of the Eurasian 1,520 mm gauge railway network, a portion of the batch was transshipped onto a train heading towards Gdańsk.

"Right now we have double-digit growth of freight coming from China. New services are supporting our growth and the Belt & Road Initiative. This time we develop Sławków as a part of the project connecting the Baltic, Adriatic, and Black Seas. Customers can ship goods by sea and later use the shuttle train to Sławków in order to deliver containers to Kiev, Odessa, or any other city. If the clients send goods from Xi'an to Sławków, they can use the Port of Gdańsk's feeder services and transport goods to Scandinavia or the UK," Mateusz Dawidowski, Chief Representative of the Gdańsk Port Authority in Shanghai, commented.
