New DE-SE kombi rail-ferry route

DB Cargo Scandinavia, Kombiverkehr, Spedition Bode, and TT-Line have partnered to launch a multimodal service for transporting containers and trailers between Duisburg and Hallsberg/Stockholm.

The route will rail-connect the DUSS terminal in Duisburg with the Port of Lübeck’s Skandinavienkai, from which TT-Line's ferries will carry the cargo to the Port of Trelleborg for another rail-bound leg, this time to Hallsberg or Stockholm. The entire operation should take 36 hours in one direction.

The service is scheduled to kick off on 17 February and will initially run three times per week.

"Depending on the day of running, a consignment that starts in Duisburg and travels via the Skandinavienkai dock in Lübeck can take an average of two days to reach Hallsberg. Going by train enables a load weighing 25 tonnes to cut CO2 equivalent by almost 1.2 tonnes - a reduction of some 60% on the figure for road-based transport," DB Cargo highlighted in a press release.
