New freight train between Koper and Slovakia launched

It is this the third service connecting the Port of Koper and the Slovakian capital, Bratislava, and the seventh to the country itself. Rail Cargo Operator and Adria Kombi are responsible for the link.

The service started on January 14th and will run twice a day. The average travel time for the route is 20 hours. Containers and lorries are the main focus of the new connection, which could be combined with other of Rail Cargo Group's (RCG) links. This allows customers to use it for transporting goods from Koper to Chechia, Hungary and Poland via the Slovakian capital.

Being Port of Koper's third-biggest foreign market, on the heels of Austria and Hungary, Slovakia mainly sees containers and cars being transported through the Slovenian port. Currently, seven rail connections exist between the two destinations: three to Bratislava, three to Žilina and one to Dunajská Streda, with services mainly provided by the Czech Metrans and Adria Kombi, all in partnership with Rail Cargo Operator.
