The Vienna-Düsseldorf rail service for non-cranable trailers

With the help of Helrom Trailer Rail, the connection, which had been tested since August 2020, has become a regular one, offering three roundtrips per week.

The service will use Helrom's swivel technology for handling trailers with the use of machinery that's integrated with the platform wagons.

The wagons open to the side, making it possible for trucks to load- and unload the shipment.

Some 3,500 trailers had been shipped out from Vienna during the year-long test.

"After the one-year trial operation, during which the handling process was fine-tuned, regular operations are now officially starting. An expansion of the traffic is planned for the coming months," Doris Pulker-Rohrhofer, the Port of Vienna's Technical Director, commented.

Helrom's technology for rail-handling non-cranable trailers was developed and first tested in Sweden.
