Following a later of intent from last year's November, Viking Line has now signed a conditional shipbuilding contract with the Chinese Xiamen Shipbuilding Industry.

The ca. EUR 194 mln deal is subject to approval of the Board of Directors of both the buyer and the seller. The agreement also includes an option for another vessel.

The brand-new GT 63,000 LNG-driven ro-pax for the Turku-Åland Islands-Stockholm route will be 218 m long, offering space for 2,800 passengers, as well as 1,500 lane metres for cargo. The ship is to be ready in 2020.
