Following a long-term co-op struck with Wärtsilä, the shipping line will be offering as of November a weekly ro-ro & container service between the ports in question.

Wärtsilä is setting up its new centre in Vaasa's Vaskiluoto, the so-called Smart Technology Hub, due to come online in 2021. The company wants to route its northbound deliveries via Belgium. In the opposite direction, in turn, WALLENIUS SOL's ships will carry on behalf of Wärtsilä the company's ready-made engines.

However, the new service will be open to other parties wanting to ship their unitised freight between Finland and Belgium.

"These long-term industrial co-operations are where we see the future growth for WALLENIUS SOL, and we are very happy about the trust given to us by Wärtsilä. The need for more tailor-made solutions is evident in the Baltic region," Ragnar Johansson, Managing Director, WALLENIUS SOL, commented.
