Canola oil - by rail & sea from Russia to China

Rail Cargo Group and FESCO have organized what’s said to be the first multimodal shipment of canola oil between the two countries with the use of flexitanks.

The inaugurating train left Krasnoyarsk carrying 216t of canola oil stored in flexitanks, single-use bags (10-24k litres/20-25t) for transporting liquid goods by rail, put into 10 twenty-foot containers.

The shipment then arrived at the Port of Vladivostok where it was loaded onto FESCO’s container ship heading for the Port of Shanghai, from which, in turn, a river barge took the containers to the Port of Nantong.

The journey took 34 days in total.

The parties intend to turn this service into a regular one.
