New broad gauge rail service Poland-Ukraine - trialled

Ukrainian Railways (UZ) are testing the link between Sknyliv in Ukraine and Sławków in Poland via the crossing in Izov-Hrubieszów.

The first shipment consisted of 13 trailers.

The service's Ukrainian part is taken care of by Lisky, while the Polish part - by UZ Cargo Poland, a subsidiary of Ukrainian Railways.

The connection has been launched to circumvent the kilometres-long truck blockades on the Polish-Ukrainian border crossings.

Meanwhile, UZ has also teamed up with the Slovakian Interport and the postal offices of Estonia and Ukraine to get parcels by rail into the last.
