New combined rail-sea LU-SE service

CFL Multimodal, Stena Line, and the ports of Rostock and Trelleborg have partnered to launch a new train-ferry route between Bettembourg in Luxembourg and Sweden's Trelleborg.

The service - for both trailers and containers, up to 44t, craneable and non-craneable units alike - will see CFL Multimodal's trains run between Bettembourg and the Port of Rostock three times per week as of 11 January 2021, while the sea leg provided by Stena Line includes 40+ sailings/week between the ports.

According to the parties, by using the new service over road transport emitting some 1.75t of CO2 per unit will be avoided.

"We have seen a huge interest from the customer side for linking Southern Europe with Scandinavia. There is huge potential in both directions - industrial products like timber, paper and steel coming from the north, while food, fruits and vegetables, and other consumer products - from the south," Fredrik Johansson, Shipping Logistics Sales & Business Development Manager, Stena Line, highlighted.
