New IT-FR rail service

Hannibal, Contship Italia’s daughter company in charge or organising multimodal transports, has launched a new link between Milan’s Melzo and Lyon’s Venissie

The service offers three round trips per week, with departures taking place from both destinations on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays

“The new rail service offers an intermodal alternative to full track routing, that will be affected by the Mont Blanc and Fréjus tunnel toll increases (+2.73% from January 1st, 2019) and the traffic ban that will apply to heavy goods vehicles over 7.5tonnes, that do not meet the Euro 4 emission standards,” a press release from Contship Italia read.

Also, the company continued, “The intermodal option represents a solution to overcome the growing problem of shortage of truck drivers, which is heavily affecting European supply-chains.”
